The Futsal World Cup is set to begin on September 14th in Uzbekistan, bringing together the top 24 futsal teams from across the globe in the sport's most prestigious tournament. The event will culminate on October 6th, when a new world champion will be crowned.
This marks the first time Uzbekistan will host this esteemed tournament and the fourth time it will take place on the Asian continent. FIFA has selected three venues for the event: the Andina Universal Sports Complex (with a capacity of 4,000 spectators), the Bukhara Universal Sports Complex (4,000 spectators), and the Humo Arena in Tashkent, where the final will be held on October 6th in front of a crowd of up to 12,500.
The group stage draw took place on May 26, 2024, dividing the teams into four groups of six:
Group 1: Uzbekistan, Brazil, Portugal (defending champions), Spain, Iran, and Argentina.
Group 2 : Morocco, Kazakhstan, Thailand, France, Ukraine, and Paraguay.
Group 3: Croatia, New Zealand, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Costa Rica, and Tajikistan.
Group 4 : Netherlands, Guatemala, Panama, Angola, Libya, and Cuba.
The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-place finishers, will advance to the knockout stage (Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Third-Place Match, and Final). If teams are tied on points, their ranking within the group will be determined by the following criteria in this order: goal difference, number of goals scored in all group matches, points obtained in matches between tied teams, goal difference in matches between tied teams, number of goals scored in matches between tied teams, fair play points (based on yellow and red cards received), or, if necessary, a drawing of lots by the FIFA organizing committee.
Tickets for this event are available on the official FIFA website.
