Raleigh, North Carolina - United Futsal would like to address the ongoing international developments of COVID-19 (CoronaVirus).
United Futsal is actively monitoring the situation as necessary decisions have been made to ensure the safety of all individuals. In regard to large public events being banned, United Futsal supports the actions taken to protect the well-being of the entire community. We will continue to evaluate the decisions made in the coming weeks and months.
United Futsal encourages everyone to follow the health and safety guidelines that have been outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
COVID-19 Impact on 2020 Disney Events
As you may know, Disney amusement parks and facilities have been closed as a result of COVID-19 developments. This includes the Orlando location where we will host the Champions Cup Series (CCS) National Training Camp, CCS National Championships, World Futsal Championships and World Futsal Showcase this summer.
As we continue discussions with Disney Sports and the Amateur Athletic Union, our event partners each summer, United Futsal will provide an update about the tournaments held July 20-31 at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida. We anticipate a decision being given to us in the coming weeks.
To be clear, if Disney shuts down an event on account of security, terrorism or any other issue outside our control, and the event doesn't take place at another local venue, we will refund tournament fees paid to United Futsal. This same policy would apply if Disney Sports closes the ESPN WWOS venues and cancels our summer events due to COVID-19.
We also recommend EVERYONE traveling to get trip cancelation insurance. If the situation is not improving or someone from your family is at risk of the virus, the insurance would enable you to get refunded. It would also cover injuries to the player between now and the event as well as family emergencies.
