Last week, the 2020 World Futsal Championships came to a close in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center. 72 teams from across the United States traveled to the annual youth futsal tournament with their minds set on championship glory.

In our World Futsal Championships recap, we highlight the tournament winners and return to play.

Winners of the 2020 World Futsal Championships

First and foremost, we would like to congratulate the current title holders of the World Futsal Championships.

The 2020 winners are listed below.

Returning to the Courts

As expected, the 2020 World Futsal Championships was a highly anticipated youth futsal tournament that returned eager participants to the courts. With safety measures and health protocols implemented, United Futsal hosted an event that reinforced its commitment to organizing quality tournaments for aspiring athletes.

"United futsal provided the best possible experience even during a difficult time around the world," said Alex Taiar, Best Futsal 07/08 Head Coach. "United Futsal could still pull it off, which was amazing - in my opinion. Professional courts, refs and atmosphere. Everything was unbelievable - it was an amazing experience for me and especially for the kids. This was such a great learning curve for them."

For medal winners, United Futsal concluded the tournament by emphasizing that the event hoped to provide a sense of normality that was desperately needed in the world. As stated, with sufficient planning and health protocols implemented, the World Futsal Championships brought the futsal community together once again.

"It was great to see teams from around the country at the World Futsal Championships," said Chris Rue, SSA Futsal Co-Founder. "It showed that we can get this done."

For one coach, the tournament was a glimpse of a return to normal life and a reminder of the refreshing atmosphere that is deep-rooted in the sports world.

"It was a really great experience during the pandemic," said Ruy Castelo Blanco, Florida Crushers 09/10 and 11/12 Head Coach. "The World Futsal Championships provided hope that things will go back to normal. It was nice to see a lot of kids having fun. Sports change lives - always. This was an amazing experience."

The United Futsal staff is truly grateful for everyone that made the 2020 World Futsal Championships possible. This includes the coaches, players, parents, friends, referees, facility staff and anyone else that contributed to the tournament this year.

We look forward to seeing our futsal community in the future! Stay home, stay safe and enjoy the time with your families.
