Created in 2020, NorCal Futsal might be one of the newest clubs on the scene, but it is definitely no stranger to the sport. Omar Cervantes, the Club Director for NorCal Futsal, has quite the impressive resume. Along with coaching youth soccer and futsal since 2002, Cervantes was the PCA National Double-Goal Coach award winner in 2019, as well as the founder and Director of Futbol for Sheriffs FC in East Bay, CA from 2016-2021. He has a strong passion for the sport, and wanted to emulate that same passion into his club.

“NorCal Futsal was created to provide consistent, high-level training and playing opportunities throughout the year for Northern California’s most dedicated players,” said Cervantes. “In a short time, we have had much success and attribute this to the passion, dedication, and commitment of our players and staff. They are constantly seeking new opportunities to learn, compete, improve, and grow, both as futsal players and good human beings.”

Now an official member of the Champions Cup Series, Cervantes is most looking forward to the added level of competition, collaboration and growth that come from the various events. As well as being the premiere youth futsal program in the world, the Champions Cup Series also provides educational and developmental pathways for coaches and athletes alike.

“One of our main goals at United Futsal is to grow the sport across the world, and develop the next generation of professional athletes and coaches,” said Rob Andrews, President of United Futsal. “We are happy to have NorCal Futsal join our elite group in the Western Conference. Each club accepted into the Champions Cup Series will play in three official tournaments throughout the year: the Conference Championship each winter, and the National Championships and World Futsal Championships each summer.
